Those who know me and my wife, Melissa, know that we are obsessed with Walt Disney World. If we aren’t at Disney World then we are planning our next trip. This past March we went to our favorite place during spring break. We wanted to stay on property but as a family of five we wanted to stay at a resort that could accommodate a family of our size and not break the bank. We narrowed it down to either Port Orleans Riverside or Caribbean Beach Resort. Both hotels are in the moderate category on the Disney Resort.
We went with the Caribbean Beach Resort because we loved the beach atmosphere when we were researching hotels. Disney has recently refurbished a ton of rooms at CBR and these sleep five. There are two queen sized beds and a pull down murphy bed as you can see in the gallery below. We loved the look of these rooms and it was plenty of room for us to sleep. The grounds at CBR are fantastic and beautiful. The sandy beaches have hammocks and beach chairs and are a great place to relax after a long day of walking around the parks. Every evening the resort had a fire bowl setup where you could roast marshmallows and Hayden had a blast doing it.
At Old Port Royale Centertown is where you can find the counter service dining which has several different counters based on the different foods served (i.e. pizza, cheeseburgers etc). There is also a table service restaurant called Shutters which we weren’t able to eat because it’s difficult with our two year old twins to go to a sit down restaurant. There is a great review here at The Disney Food Blog. You can also find the large pirate themed pool, which is awesome here and also a water area for kids also themed after pirates. There is an arcade and gift shop here as well.
This resort is huge so be prepared to do plenty of walking from your room to the pool/dining areas. It wasn’t that big a deal for us because I mean let’s face it you walk a hundred miles while at Disney what’s a couple of more?
Overall we loved this resort and we would definitely recommend it to everyone. We will definitely stay here again some day. For more info on this resort I highly recommend this thread on the Dis Boards about the resort which I lived on for months prior to our visit.
Ah, we haven’t stayed at Caribbean Beach since they refurbished rooms. Loved seeing your pictures. We will have to try and stay again there soon.
It was a lot of fun. I highly recommend staying there!
Is it just the angle of the picture or is one of the beds bigger than the other?
I love how modern and clean this room looks! I would love to stay there with my husband to enjoy the beach and weather.
We go to Disney every year and this is the only resort we stay at. We love it there.
This sounds like a great Disney resort. We haven’t stayed at any of them in ages. I think it’s time to change that the next time we go.
You won’t regret it!
I have never been to the Caribbean Beach Resort but it looks fantastic! I need a vacation and what a great place to go!
You would love it!
What a gorgeous room! We are planning our vacation for next spring and this looks like it is worth looking into. (I know that it is early, but based on when my husband is able to get vacation time, we are limited on travel dates.)
We are looking for great places to stay on vacations! I am going to add this one to the list of trying out next time we are in that area!
We have never stayed here before but it looks awesome! I will have to look into it next time we are in town!
Rooms that sleep five is awesome to me. I hate planning out a vacation to find out that they want to split our family up because we don’t fit. Thanks so much for this info.
I would love to go to the Caribbean Beach Resort! It looks so relaxing and awesome.
I really like going to Disney so I’ll have to consider this for my next stay. It sounds really nice.
I would love to stay on site if i got to go to Disney again. It would be so much fun. I love the decor of your room.
I wish i lived close enough to Disney to go often. I am hoping to go again in the next year. I will have to look into staying on site.
Staying on site is the only way to do Disney. I would love to go and spend a week there. My kids would love it.
Nice upgrades! we are fortunate to live near disney but if we didn’t we would totally stay in an on site hotel!
This look like really great upgrades. Thanks for share.
Now I know exactly where I’m staying when we visit Disney! Thank you for the tips, and walking is a breeze!
This is so good to know, We have a bigger family and I am afrraid of even thinking about going to the awesome places like this
